The Start Icon disappeared windows 7. All otheer icons remain. What is?

try restarting explorer.exe process .

Only the start orb (icon)

Sounds like malware/virus. As you shouldn't be able to move the Start/delete/hide button at all in windows 7 (unless your moving the toolbar of course).

Reboot, press F8 during boot, and log into safe mode.

Run your favourite anti malware program/ A/V. Malware bytes is pretty good.

Is this a legit copy of Windows? Did you try and do any skinning or theme modifications?
