Hello there,

when I booted up my pc this morning, the icons in my start menu were gone for all manually installed aps (see screenshot).
I have no idea why this happened and did not find a solution so far - neither erasing the thumbnail or icon cache - as suggested by numerous threads on the web - helped, neither did resetting the start menu or repairing repositories / sfc /scannow etc.

Does somebody has an idea how to fix this without reinstalling windows?

Thanks and best!

OK, so I solved the issue. I realized that when trying to open the folder of a e.g. document from the task bar (right click on e.g. Microsoft Excel, right click on a doc in the list, choose "open folder"), windows gave me the error "runtimebroker.exe file system error -2144926975".
I still have no idea what this means or what caused this, but doing a repair with the inplace update (using an ISO-file) worked perfectly fine.
