start menu wont come up and unable to increase brightness help please :(

hello hello,

I just upgraded my lenovo z500 non-touch to windows 10, and i've been experiencing some problems. first, which is the most annoying, my start menu wont come up, i restarted a number of times and i tried the thing you copy in powershell and still didnt work. and also my brightness level is stuck, if i hit the + or - brightness on keyboard the brightness level meter on my screen changes but the actual brightness level of my screen doesnt move.

It can take an extended period of time for windows to load up, so patience might be needed.

Use CtrlAltDel to bring up task manager, if you can't see task manager, BEFORE CLICKING ANYWHERE ELSE ON SCREEN, use windows key plus the right and/or left arrow keys to switch task manager between "monitors" (even if you only have one)
You can use Task Manager to force explorer.exe to start running.

okay, so start menu now works, but some programs wont launch. is there any chance that you would know how to fix the brightness problem?

Brightness might be a monitor/driver issue. You'll have to contact Lenovo about that. Windows doesn't have anything to do with brightness settings.

1. Download Lenovo Z500 Win 8.1 Intel HD driver http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/ideapad-z-series-laptops/ideapad-z500-notebook

2. Download Video Features(Intel HD Graphics 4000) http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/downloads/ds102364

3. Copy folders from Lenovo Z500 Intel driver 9.17.10.3223 (only folders) to Video Features(Intel HD Graphics 4000) and rewrite

4. Video Features(Intel HD Graphics 4000) - setup - install video drive and brightness regulation
works

okay, so when i downloaded the z500 windows 8 driver, i get an exe file. how do i copy the folders from that to the video features of the intel driver? im sorry i got lost

I found easier solution. Install Lenovo Intel driver for W 8.1, then install unpack driver C:\drivers\Intel Video Driver\10.18.10.3277
