Start menu

how do i get admin rights to unpin certain stuff from my start menu. this has been bugging me since rc1 days. now running home premium. i dont understand how to get around the whole administer rights thing. some one please explane!. thank you. mardo63.

For stuff in the "recently used" portion of the list, just right-click the item and choose "Remove from this list".

For stuff that's pinned to the start menu, just right-click the item and choose "Unpin from Start Menu".

...or are you talking about the items that appear under "All Programs"?

thanks for the response. no i'm talking about items in the start menu that dont go away even when i click remove from this list. progams that i'v installed and i did not pin to start menu. had this prob with xp also. i have been useing computers for a few years. while hardware is easy for me,software is not. while this problem is not detrimental to the operation of the pc. it irritates the hell out of me. feels like i'm not in total control of my pc. i hope you understand what i mean. thanks.

Click "Start", right-click on "All Programs" and select "Open All Users".

You'll be inside the folder structure which holds the items on the start menu. Go into the "Programs" subfolder and delete away to your heart's content.
