Start-up problem on windows 8.1

Dear all,

I have a copy of Windows 8.1 installed on my Acer Aspire V3-571. Last Friday evening, 12th of June, the OS had to do some updates and installed the updates. Ever since I installed the updates, when I switch on the laptop, the logo of Acer comes up normally but then after the logo disappears, Windows does not want to boot and the screen goes black and stays black. The only to make Windows boot is to give the laptop a hard restart and then it starts up normally and Windows boots up.

Is there any solution to the problem (such as removing the updates)?
