my rig I'm building is this is what i have so far
CPU: AMD FX-6300 Vishera 6-Core 3.5GHz
MOTHERBOARD: GIGABYTE GA-970A-D3P
HARD DRIVE: Western Digital Blue WD2500AAJS
CASE: Antec Three Hundred Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case
I am still shopping power supplies and graphics cards any help would be appreciated.
If possible i would like to run skyrim at least 60fps on high settings.
also i don't plan on overclocking. don't know if that matters i still new to building pc's.
as far as graphics cards are concerned I am considering the GeForce GTX 750 Ti but am looking for feed back.
Also from what I understand which could be wrong for memory all i need is RAM that is reliable so any help would be great. Thank you.

I am buying in the US and if possible i would like to keep the graphics card under $300

This is a nice little system:

Solution

I have a 4770S (65W Haswell) but Skyrim really takes very little CPU on my rig. My GPU is an R7 260X which performs a bit less than the 750 Ti. I also have a QHD monitor. On this machine, Skyrim is installed on a WD Green HD. (Official HD texture packs and Big Treed mods installed)

With Skyrim settings on High (though I drop the AF to 4x, but move all advanced sliders up to about 80% and all available check-boxes checked) I am getting nearly constant 60 FPS, with a low about 52 except for area loading screens.

The 750 Ti that you plan on should not have any problems pushing 60 FPS on QHD and below at High settings, though you may need to reduce the AF.

The cost of the FX-6300 + cooler + motherboard is around $205.
I would instead get an i3 and H81 board, that will save you $30-50 to put towards better parts or future upgrades.

The i3 will have similar real world performance in multi-threaded programs, and superior performance in single-threaded applications.
It also gives you a better upgrade path as an i5-4460 beats anything AMD offers.

Or if you can afford to spend $240 on mobo/cpu you could just get the i5 now.

Either way it is still better then the fx-6300.

If I don't intend on overclocking do i need a after market CPU cooler

No, just a nice to have but you can keep the stock cooler which to intel's credit is ok

Here is a lot more power:

With the FX-6300 the upgraded cooler is highly recommend, first of all they are loud as hell (have 2 machines with fx-8320 in them), the fx-series chips get hot so since you are going to push it then I would strongly advise an upgraded cooler as the stock one is not very adequate.

Better CPU, better GPU, Much better quality power supply, and cheaper.
