I'm definitely a newbie so I hope this isn't a stupid question....when I
begin a new flight is there any way to have it begin at the gate/parking
area as opposed to the departing runway. Its no big deal but I thought it
would add to the realism starting from the terminal with a stopped engine.

Sure is. Create a flight and after you have the location, weather, time
of day move the aircraft to a ramp or parking place. Press the ;
(semi-colon) and a screen will come up where you type the name of that
flight. After that all you have to do is "select a flight" from the
log-in screen and there you are. Right where you saved it before.

window,there will a drop down menu of all the starting points available for
that particular airport.Just pick a parking area that suits the size of your
plane
