I have a Amd fx6300, Gigabyte - GA-78LMT-USB3 Micro ATX AM3+ Motherboard, I want to upgrade what GPU and other parts should i go for? I want to game at low settings

Solution
i look at it the other way. why double pay for the gpu. if he buys a cheap one now and even if he can get one at MSRP down the road, the cost of the first one still adds to the total spent on the gpu. so overall, he still overpaying. may as well get a good gpu now and not waste the money on a cheap one now. not like he can sell it for any decent money down the line. low end cards don't hold any value for very long.

prices on gpu's are coming down now anyway and are almost back to msrp in many cases.

just my thoughts on the topic anyway :)
the 6300 is a rather old cpu and will work for basic gaming but newest AAA games may not run well on it. you could get a good gpu now and then save for a new cpu/mobo/ram down the road. this would justify getting a better gpu than you really should pair with a 6300.

if you don't want to upgrade down the road, then something like ameyer suggested would be a great idea. an older gtx 970 or 2/300 series amd gpu would pair well with the system as is.

Yeah, I only suggested a low end card because the poster specified he/she wanted to play on low settings. If you're going to upgrade, I would consider still buying a low end card for this computer, then buy one prebuilt later for your upgrade. You'll get more bang for your buck if you're buying new, as the cost of GPUs are still inflated, but companies are selling cards in prebuilt machines for MSRP

We just see different sides of the same coin. I guess my thought is that 960/970 cards are so cheap now that it doesn't really make a difference. That and if he tries to sell that computer without a card in it, no one will buy it. But this way, he'd at least make his money back if he sells the computer later. 6 one way, half a dozen the other 😀
