starting up

hi, when my computer boots up all i am getting is my wallpaper with no
taskbar, icons or start has anyone got any ideas?

i have tried a system restore but this is not working either!

Right click on desktop ARRANGE ICONS BY>SHOW DESKTOP ITEMS .. you should be
in business.??

If you have a WinXP CD then try a Repair Install. Pay close attention to
Step 3
