Hi

I wanted to start a discussion about the state of the cartridge
business in the UK or elsewhere

1) Only Cartridgworld seem to be opening a new store ( it seems ) on
every high st - why isn't there more competition from
independents?.Where I live, there is 2 cartridge worlds who seem to be
cleaning up - there certainly seems to be a million online retailers
selling compatible carts but only CW on the high street.

2) How does the future bear well for these companies - I refer to
chips / anti refill devices etc - or will refillers always find a way
around these problems
In 10 years, will these companies still be here?

Many thanks

In the US, the 5/04 issue of Consumer Reports tested several non-OEM
cartridges. In many cases, I assume they are refilled and then resold.
Overall, they said it wasn't worth it. One brand (InkjetUSA) was so bad
they didn't even rank it! Most cartridges had bad nozzles, and some had
totally wrong colors. The cost savings were not all that good in many
cases. Sometimes, the off-brands cost MORE than OEM. They also suffered
from poor color, fading, bleeding, etc..

They tested Canon BCI-3e, Epson T007201/8201, and HP 45/78 compatibles.
The Staples #78 did pretty good and was cheap. In most other cases, the
cost or quality was not good.
