Static from rear audio ports, none from front.

I have a Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium sound card first of all. All drivers are up to date on both on board audio and sound card. When I plug my mic into either the the flexi-jack on the sound card or the mic port on the motherboard I get a static, the mic works but there is a constant static over it. However when I use the front port (that is wired to the sound card btw not the motherboard) there is no static and its completely clear. This has me stumped because I would think it would be the other way around.

Any suggestions?

You have a mic port on your motherboard? What board is that?
First thing I would do, is decide on which sound device I wanted to use; on-board or discrete. If on-board, remove the discrete card/driver. If you decide to use the discrete, disable the on-board sound in BIOS. Be sure your FP audion is connected to the card's header, not the motherboard's header.
