I bought a new modem (Linksys ea7500 with windows 8).
Once installed I wanted to create a static IP so I could forward a single port in the new router.
I proceeded to change the IPV4 information as I have done in the past successfully. However, I got the following warning:
"Warning- Multiple default gateways are intended to provide redundancy to a single network(such as an intranet or the internet). They will not function properly when the gateways are on two separate, disjoint networks (such as one on your intranet and one on the internet). Do you want to save this configuration?Yes or No"
If I proceed and forward the port in my new router I am unsuccessful.
Note:
I have 3 networks listed... one for Ethernet, wireless and then there is a third listed which I disabled and I think is redundant.
While inputting the information in the properties of the IPV4, I notice the DNS and default gateway address were listed the same in IPconfig. I tried again with the DNS numbers I got off the router status page with the same result.
Im not sure how to proceed and was hoping for a few ideas.
Thank you.
