Static ip/router settings

Help! I always have trouble setting a new router up,and call my friend to help/do it. I just got a STATIC IP. a block
of 8 from AT&T for $15.00 extra a month.I copied the link,but now it only shows att site. The service guy GAVE me
a new Net Gear modem model B90-755 025-15 ,I have 4 computers in a Home Network. and I have one person
that Loges into One of the computers by using VNC. That is what i want to do away with.The VNC.I just want to log
into by using IP 's. I cant figure out what to put in for Home network Configuration.Should that be checked "Public LAN"
and then check enable.right now its checked Private, Next PPP location,this is checked "PPP is on the device" then
Security Default, i have "IPv4 Security Default Settings" check" as Allow.Then i checked "Block IPv4 unsolicited Ping packets from the Internet." Next i checked "Remote Logging" and their is a ip their already 192.168.x.xx Next
Port Forwarding"It has Service name,and then their is a drop down box with Everything in it Games ,aol mess,napster.
vnc,. and then "Custom Defined" when i enter this "Service Name LAN IP Address come up with 2 Ip addresses
service name has "HTTPS" "LAN IP Address" has 2 ip'S. Then when i click on DETAILS Service Name HTTPS ,comes up
with, Protocol Start Port End Port LAN Port ..Protocol has TCP/UDP under it, and Start port and end port
and lan port have 3 Numbers each under them and their the same 3 numbers used for all,.Next is "Port Triggering" this
I Never heard of. This just has "Service Name" and a drop down box that says "select a service" but nothing shows up.
under the drop down box it has "enable or Disable" Next is "ALG Configuration" FTP is checked H323 not checked
PPTP is checked ,IPSec is checked, SIP not checked.
and I have 5 IP address to use for different computers.
Why im asking is that my friend cant make it till tomorrow night,because he gets out about8-9-10 pm. he's a programer
for some company. i would like to do this my self. he showed me on my old Lynks router. [a little bit]

You do NOT need port forwarding. In fact, you do not even need a router!

Reset the IP info for each PC to use one of the static IP addresses you received from AT&T, along with the other info they gave you like netmask and default gateway.

Now, instead of a router, all you need is a hub/switch. Plug each PC and the modem right into the switch. That is it!

This sounds TOOOOOOOOooooo easy!!!
I have to use the Modem for dsl, that has 4 ports, i used 3 for computers and the 4th to run to a Switch for the
other 2 computers.
Im sorry to ask this. You said " Reset the IP info for each PC" what i got from ATT is One Default Gateway. and 5
Ip addresses. these 5 Start with 69.xx.xx.xx And the Primary DNS and the Sencondary DNS.
Do i change my ip address in EACH computer to one of the 5 ?

You could achieve the same thing, remote desktop connection to multiple internal IP addresses, using just a single outside static IP address. You don't need multiple static IP addresses on your outside. All you need is PAT(Port Address Translation) on your router, which can be handled by most any mid-range wireless router today.

Configure your static IP address on your outside WAN interface (the modem from AT&T will have to be configured into Bridged mode.) Then you will need to go into the router settings and configure individual ports to be connected to from the outside that are translated to individual computers on the inside of your network.

In other words, remote desktop to 69.XX.XX.XX:5001 will go to Desktop1, 69.XX.XX.XX:5002 will go to Desktop2, and so forth. This should save you some money as well on static IP addresses. In fact, you can set up a dynamic DNS address on one of your computers or routers and do away with static IP addresses at all and utilize completely free alternatives.
