Static Pressure VS Airflow for my setup

I've recently modded my Silverstone SG05, due to the mod, both side vintilation holes have been covered up, so only the top ventilation holes are left open.. the case only supports a single 120mm Intake fan for airflow..

My question is, which type of fan should I use for my situation, AirFlow or Static Pressure Fans?

the intake is not blocked, but the case is very small, and there is very little ventilation holes, so im expecting that the fan would have to blow air into a Case that is a bit pressurized, imagine a fan installed to blow air inside a very closed box with no holes..

any idea which fan I should use?

use a corsair AF 140mm

since you only have a single intake fan.. and it is listed as a 120mm slot (not 140 unless you cut it out and do a mod... if it even fits)

use a delta. high static pressure and high airflow. honestly there isnt a single fan which even comes close to it. buy a good one and you can always turn down the rpm to make it silent.

I would get a Corsair AF120 Performance Edition. The AF120 has excellent air flow and does not get too loud. If you end up needing better pressure, the SP120 will work, but better to try and get better air flow first.

looks like a thin design fan to me though. thin fans are proven to be worse at static pressure however are usually quieter.

as far as deltas... yes they are noisy but that is AIRFLOW noise not fan noise typically. this is why you scale them down to lower rpm speeds. you only really hear the motor whine at maximum.

delta fans are 15$ more expnesive than corsair AF 120mm ..

they are also twice the fan..

i dont see your point. for half the money of the corsair i could buy a cheap fan with half the cfm.

the op has a single fan slot so i suggested getting the most fan he can. this gives him the option to throttle the fan down to maintain high airflow (higher than the corsair can even generate) while still being quiet. it is also able to provide ample static pressure.

up to the op to decide on what path they want to take.

the case seems to support a 140mm fan with 120mm fan mounts.. but the intake hole in the front is sized for 120mm fan, if i mod the mounting holes to fit a 140mm fan, but leave the 120mm intake Fan hole, will I benefit in using a 140mm fan or not?

no. it would be even worse than using a 140 to 120mm fan duct. at least in the case of the latter you would be able to use the whole surface of the fan.

if you intend to use a 140mm fan you would be better off cutting out a larger diameter hole.

this is why i suggested using a higher end 120.

of course, your call... you could go either route depending on how much you wanted to mod.
