Stay with FM2+ or go to AM3+ (mATX)?

I am currently running an A10-5800K with an R9 270X (not in dual graphics). As this is my first PC build I realise there were other cpus that would have been best. But my questions and worries are these; should I just get an FM2+ X4 860K, or go for the AM3+ with an FX 6300? I have done bunch of research about AM3+ but my main drawback is that it HAS to fit in an mATX case. A lot of people have said that the only AM3+ boards that are mATX are really outdated and unreliable/just rubbish. I currently use it for CAD and gaming, not top end titles, but still would like the ability to go to them in the future. Is it worth going to AM3+ or would the X4 860K give me a decent performance improvement?

Thanks

Stick with what you have. The differences will be minimal, either with the 860K or the FX-6300.

Is there a particular reason you want to upgrade? Are you having framerate problems in certain games?
AM3+ is a lateral move, if anything. AM3+ is really out of date.

I'd wait and go all out into a new Intel system or see what AMD has to offer at the end of the year.
Don't bother upgrading the CPU. Won't be a huge difference, with AM3+ or the Athlon chip.

You will see almost no benefit in going to the 860k, not worth the money at all. You will still be less then an i3 of fx-6300.

Why not go intel? You can get an i3 for $100ish and then an h81 board for $50-60. Then if you ever need more cpu you can always upgrade to an i5 or i7.
The i3 will be better then the 6300 at everything.

The 860k is roughly 20% faster in benchmarks, but I would advise against investing further in the FM2 platform.

And you're right, AM3 doesn't like mATX at all.

My advice - Stick with your A10 for now, and save towards an i5 build
