I GM'd stealing sitting at a table in Buc Den stealing about 100 bags from
3 backpacks on the table. Each bag I kept filled with bottles. You need
to steal 7 stones worth of items to gain in the 70s, 8 stones in the 80s,
etc.

No, they are referring to a gameplay timer.

No, llamas make terrible chess players. They're notorious cheats, too. :)

I last GM'd stealing by using bags filled with daggers - you need to make
them heavier for each level of stealing, but I don't remember exactly what
the weights were. They don't need to be in a pack animal, either, unless a
recent patch has changed that. There's probably something on Stratics.

And, no, you don't need to keep the PC on all week - the game will usually
time out after 5 minutes of non-action, anyway. It's refering to the amount
of game time you've played.

Ok, but to everyone telling this guy to steal containers - you haven't been
playing much lately, have you? You can no longer steal containers. I think
it happened around publish 16. So that's over a year since you could steal
a bag. Even an empty one. Piles of gold can be made that heavy, but you
can't force your character to take the whole pile at once... It's off to
find out what single objects weigh more than 7 stone.

Here I am replying to myself - chainmail pieces are 7 stone each. And
Leather tunics. There were other items, but I didn't really have the time
to look closely. I'm not even certain about the weight of the item you're
stealing still being important, just my own disclaimer.

Not in Trammel in most places, but in Buc Den (Trammel) the rules a still
a bit different hence my description. I GM'd Hanse there in May.

Sorry - didn't mean to imply he should start by stealing the BAG of daggers,
but rather the daggers IN the bag - and build up to heavier items. I started
with daggers because they were the lightest weapon I could find. My fault
for posting in a hurry. Sorry again!
