Steam and other downloads take too long?

Ok so right now i am downloading "marvel heroes 2015" and its taking a bit long. It says peak of 4.6/Mb/s and mostly its 3.6/Mb/s what is up with this..My friends downloads games extremely quick and its funny because my parents upgraded something with fios..i think it was uploads and downloads..And it seems still the same slow pace. Something up? thank you

Is this wired or wireless?

sometimes when my download speed slows down i just disconnect and reconnect to my internet and it helps. Not sure if it works with you

1. Wireless is the issue.
2. The 'speed' you see from Steam is ~1/8 of what the number you get from FiOS.

If your previous plan from FiOS was 50/50, and you were seeing a particular speed via wireless....upgrading the FiOS plan to 150/150 (or whatever) speed probably will not change the wireless performance to your PC.

The speed test that really counts is from speedtest.net. Go there, do that, report back what you get. And let us know what plan you have from Verizon. 25/25, 50//50, 150/150....

But your issue is probably the WiFi.

also, the promised speeds arent always the actual speeds, depending on the time of the day it can go slower/faster and the distance from the central node to your house may matter aswell
