Steam crashes, games stuck downloading

As of yesterday whenever I open up Steam, when I click on the Downloads section there is a download at the top that is not downloading and cant download or move forward in the process of downloading. Also, after about 30 seconds, my Steam freezes and crashes if I try to open one of the games downloading or updating. I have no idea whats causing this and need help and am hoping that I do not need to reinstall Steam completely but if I have to I will.

I am afraid you may have to reinstall Steam. It happens when you try opening a game that is updating? Try deleting the game. See what happens and reinstall that game. It could just be a problem with the Steam client having no idea what is wrong with the downloads and crashing as a result. IF DELETING DOESN'T WORK- Try downloading Steam from the website and running the installer. And reinstall it. If that doesn't work that way, uninstall it through control panel (THIS WILL DELETE ALL DOWNLOADED GAMES) and reinstall through that download.
