Steam Download Cap?

On speedtest my internet shows as ~112 mbps but on steam it maxes out my download speed at around 13-14 mbps. Why would they cap it or why am I not getting around 100 mbps download speed.

112 megabit and 13-14 megabyte. bytes are 8 times larger than bits.

The second one is usually written MB/s precisely to avoid this confusion.

Mbps comes from the old bps abbreviation for bits per second. There never was an abbreviation for bytes per second, so it's usually usually written as a unit - kB/s or MB/s. Yes, in the old days our computers communicated over a modem at 300 or even 120 bps.
