Hey guys,
Today's morning was completely ruined by this weird problem. Everytime I download something form steam, the downloading speed is good at first (5-5.5 MB per second), but then it slows down until it reches ridiculous speed (less than one kb per second, it's crazy). When this thing happens, it affects all my other devices, to the point I cannot even surf on the web with my smartphone. This morning i formatted my pc because I thought that it could have been caused by some kind of virus, but the problem persisted. When I don't download something from steam, everything works fine, infact I could download all the drivers with no problem whatsoever. What do you think I should do? Thank you in advance.

Under settings try setting the download speed in Steam to match your wifi speed. It may be on unlimited and not manage itself very well. Also check from what location you are downloading from in Steam see if you can find a closer hub in steam to download from. Also clearing the download cache may help a bit. All on same page.

I tried your first solution and it doesn't work. At the moment I have no installed antivirus except for the one included in windows 10 by default. Should i turn it off? But why the hell I didn't have any problem until this morning??? Thank you for your answer btw

have a simmilar issue with my girlfriends pc, she gets slow to no connection when downloading but doesnt lag in game meanwhile i get great in steam download speed but lag horribly in every game wether its steam based or not even though i cleared my cache and a fresh win 10 install on both.

It could be, your router's wifi is starting to fail - had a similar problem with a Tenda N-series router my parents had - was purchased in the winter but when spring time came around they experienced the exact same symptoms, wifi was good at first then when it was in high use the performance dropped for all devices. After a while (mid-spring) it was to the point you had to reset the router to get it to work normally, then it started happening to wired devices. I was able to alleviate to a point by putting a laptop cooler underneath, but it only delayed the problem for about a day and less eventually. Only solution was to replace the router, a TP-Link model solved all problems and still going strong to this day.

So - what router do you have? Have you tried a power cycle / hard reset / firmware upgrade? Does the router get hot? Do you have a wired PC or laptop to check the wired connection?
