Steam games "stopped working"

Hi, for some reason all my steam games wont launch and just say: '(game name).exe has stopped working'. I have tried un-installing and reinstalling steam and verifying the integrity of the game cache but it still hasn't helped any. I'm currently trying to re-download one of the games but at 500kb/s or less it isn't going anywhere fast and I really wouldn't want to to the same to the rest of them.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

Do a MEMTEST to test the integrity of your RAM and also do an Integrity check for your HDD, here is a link on the various test and such to check the integrity of your HDD and also for it to correct any errors it may have.
