Im currently exploring my options available for streaming pc games over my network to my tv in the living room. The steam link looks appealing to me. only 49.99 and it does exactly what i want and no more. Also i can rest assured it will work with my steam library. My question is: Will this device work with a ps4 controller? Can I just use ds4 tools i windows and run it off my pc? I also would like to know if anyone has experience with this device and how it performs. Thanks!

not sure, as there have always been driver issues with ps3 controllers and such (never used a ps4 controller but i know with a 3rd party program you can use it on PC)

Basically, the obstacle here is that when you plug it into a pc you can run whatever program and figure out how to get something running using a 3rd party program like Xpadder and such. With the Steam Link, if you try plugging it into the USBs on it it probably won't work as they most likely only design it for keyboard/mouse and xinput (x360 controller) support.

However, if you were to wirelessly connect it to your pc, depending on your range of the wireless controller you can probably just play games like that (have it connected to the PC rather than the Link, and just play games wirelessly like 2 floors away lol)

Honestly, you should just wait for it to officially come out, as in not preorder it, as eventually there will probably be workarounds once people get their hands on it.

I just got my steam link today, and mainly just toyed with trying to get other controllers working on it (the steam controller is just too different for me - I need the familiar). I had no luck with the xbox 360 usb dongle that I have been using on my pc, but then again, the dongle stopped lighting up just after I tested it, so it may have oddly just crapped out on me...

Anyway, I probably would have stopped there had it worked, but since I really wanted a different control option, I plugged in my ps4 controller (wired) and to my surprise it worked! I was able to navigate through the steam UI, get into Dark Souls 2, and play around enough to confirm that button configurations were all working properly (though obviously with on-screen prompts suggesting xy/ab button assignments). Haven't tried it via bluetooth yet, but I'll tinker with it later tonight and report back.

Hold down the home + share button at the same time (unplugged, so you need another input device to set this up), while searching for bluetooth devices. This let me sync my ps4 controller with steam link wireless.

strange, as the Steam page says it supports the wireless Xbox 360 controller, I would plug it back into your PC just to confirm ti works.

Anyways, I won't be getting my hands on the Steam Link til at least next month, but if we can confirm the (wireless) Xbox controller works with the Steam Link I'll probably pick another up from Amazon (I only have a wired and a PC dongle at the moment)
