Steam or Origin Base Build Game. Please Help!

What are some good military base building rts type games on steam? Things like command and conquer or age of empires, I'm mainly interested in the futuristic type games but also medieval kind like AOE. I really enjoy being able to create a cool, unique and well protected base and position troops and vehicles all around and also vehicles and also set up fences and turrets. I am aware of civilization and total war warhammer and have both but I do not consider it base building. Please let me know if there are any good ones. Thanks everyone!

The old base building games died out due to lack of interest after the big Starcraft II came out. Other styles of play came out as you mentioned, the one 'niche' segment was the set path the enemy must go through and your job was to put as much stuff in its way on cliffs/etc, overlooking the path to stop the wave after wave of incoming enemy. As these don't lend to MULTIPLAYER, which is 99% of the marketspace based gaming it is why they relegated to Indie game studios than the AAA+ studios. The current different main 'types' and titles are found http://www.pcmag.com/article/344190/the-best-pc-games-of-2016

All were found with a simple search using GOOGLE (base build game) like you asked.
Currently the only 'genre' that comes otherwise close is multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) games like DOTA 2.
