I recently bought this headset and i'm only getting the mono option when configuring the headset. I plugged the optical in and usb and i'm not getting the 7.1 per product description or even 5.1 option. I have the Dolby turned on with the receiver and i'm getting nothing. Does anyone have the headset that ran into this issue?

Thank you!

Oh yeah, I forgot about the microphone part, you would likely need the USB for that. One other thing you might try is to go into Windows audio devices, and set your motherboard's soundcard as your default playback device, and perhaps set it for digital output. Again, it doesn't sound like the headset supports more than 2 sound channels over USB, so you have to make sure your computer is playing back sounds over the optical connection instead.

Yeah, It's plugged into my mobo's spdif.

I don't think you need both the optical and USB connection at the same time. It sounds like the USB will make the headset appear as its own 2-channel soundcard, so you would only get stereo through that. You would want to go through your motherboard's built-in soundcard instead to make use of the 7.1 optical out. The USB probably doesn't even need to be plugged in, and might just cause games to use its 2-channel connection by default instead.

I've tried doing that but it was recommended. From what i've read, the capability should be withing the receiver, but it's not giving me anything. I'll keep trying, but I might have to end up sending it back :-\

It's optical in, then the usb out.
