Step by Step Guide to Replacing LCD Monitor Backlight?

My Viewsonic VX1962WM monitor's backlight is broken. I can faintly see the icons of my screen and Google Chrome and such (it is just very, very much dimmed). Does anyone have a step by step guide on how to replace it? (and any sites for buying backlight lamps; I'm currently looking at http://www.ccflwarehouse.com/)

I'm not sure that it's a good idea to do this yourself unless you are strapped for funds , something like this might be better done at a repair shop.
I build my own computers but I doubt that I would attempt this.
Have you tried the Viewsonic support site to see if it's covered under the Warranty ?

The monitor itself is over 5 years old, so I doubt the warranty would still be in effect. I've emailed Viewsonic support about the issue.
