steps to switch CPUs

Im planning to switch my pentium dual core e5800 with a core 2 quad q9400. Will my stock intel coller fit properly? and will I need any bios tampering? or will i be able to boot straight from my HDD ? Also suggest me some cheap and best thermal paste. (Motherboard used msi G41M-P23)

You can just take out the pentium and put the q9400 there and remount the cooler, nothing else needed.

For thermal paste, you can use something like Arctic MX-4 or IC Diamond
