Stereo mix too quiet

When I try to use stereo mix to play music on Skype calls, my friends can barely hear it on max volume. My stereo mix is enabled and selected as my recording device on Skype. The green bar next to the stereo mix icon doesn't move when i play music. Any help? Is it also possible to include your audio equipment? Also make sure that your BIOS and remaining device drivers are up to date.

In your sound Manager,
Start>type Control Panel and press enter>Sound

click on Recording tab and locate your Stereo Mix device upon which you'll need to right click and go to properties. You should see a "Levels" tab

within which you'll see a gain management bar. Increase it until you get your desired audio gain.
