I Currently have an 1150 based system

i5-4460
8GB DDR3
500GB Samsung 860 EVO
Seasonic PSU
Gigiabyte ATX motherboard
Dell XPS 700 /710/720 Case with bad BTX to ATX convertion
Will be getting gpu soon.

I want to switch to a mini ITX case so i will need a new Motherboard.
Is it worth buying an 1150 motherboard or is it better to upgrade to a 6th or 7th gen based system
Are there any other benefits apart from DDR4 support and m.2 nvme

Or switching to an AMD based system is also an option

Solution
You need to ask question by yourself.
1) Can I find the mini ITX MB? how much is it?
2) Do I use the PC for games?

Because you may have hard time to find the mini ITX MB you want. And if you will use the PC for games, and the new cpu, eg. Ryzen 2600 or i5 8400, will be better than the i5 4460. And you need more budget for upgrading the whole PC, I mean new CPU+MB+DDR4. By the way, the m2 (nvme) is faster than any sata type SSD too.
