I recently got Windows 10 and am looking for the stikynot.exe file to open an SNT file. My old hard drive has sticky notes in Windows 7 and I have found the SNT file and also the stikynot.exe file. When using file explorer it asks how I would like to open the SNT file but I cannot find sticky notes app in Windows 10 with the .exe file.

No it's not open. A list of programs shows to open it. I've used notepad but that comes all messed up with text. It asks to search for a program but this is where I'm stuck trying to find sticky notes or the stikynot.exe I know I have sticky notes in windows 10 but I can't drag the SNT file over either

I think you misunderstood what Ralstop 18 said. First, Windows 10 has done away with a lot of the .exe files (and even when they exsist, they don't open an app properly), instead they have app launchers. Find the search box either in the left side of the taskbar or right click the Windows symbol and click search. Type "Sticky Notes" in the "Type here to search" box. In the results you should see the Sticky Notes App. If you click on the long box the in the left panel, that says "Sticky Notes app" or the the square yellow box with a black frame that aslo says Sticky Notes" you will launch the Sticky Notes app. If you right click on either you will also be given the option to "Pin to Start" and "Pin to Taskbar" so you will be able to launch it again without having to search for it. It should also show up in the start programs menu under "S".

I know how to launch the sticky notes app in windows 10 my problem is getting my old sticky notes from windows 7 to run on the windows 10 sticky notes app. Does that make sense?
If I right click the SNT file (which I got off my old hard drive) and click 'open with'... I'm asked 'How do you want to open this file?'... The list of apps doesnt have sticky notes... So I click 'look for another app on this PC'... but cant find where sticky notes is or the stikynot.exe.
Again if I just open sticky notes in windows 10 but then I can't just drag the SNT file over to open it
