Hello! I'm trying my best to make a build right now for my computer that I'm hopefully going to be building over the summer. And when I was looking for the right CPU I decided to go for the AMD - Ryzen 5 2600X 3.6GHz 6-Core Processor

and the Asus - STRIX B350-F GAMING ATX AM4 Motherboard

According to uk.pcpartpicker.com The BIOS needs updating. So me being me began to look around on this forum as well as some others and they all seem to say things about having to go onto their website but surely the cpu wont work if i put it in? I dont really understand, do I require a second CPU or something that fits with my motherboard? Sorry again,

Solution
this happens a lot a vendor makes a mb and newer cpu come out that need bios updates for the newer cpu code id. the trick with older mb and newer cpu is go to the vendor web page for that mb and look up what bios needs to be on the mb to post. then see when that bios came out and if there any newer bios. write down the min bios needed and the newest bios. you can then email the mb vendor and they can tell you by serial number of the mb when both bios were used. with the serial number info you can contact newegg or amazon seller and ask for mb with serial # in the range you need. if you get an old old mb then you can send it in to the vendor for them to update the mb for you. or on some of the asus mb they have usb flashback port. dont...
No you don't need a second CPU to update your Bios beastfox.Whatever Ryzen CPU you use, you should be able to access Bios.
Bios is best updated to better address new DDR4 RAM that are listed on the MB QVL.

With STRIX B350-F GAMING Motherboard it's best to use the EZ Flash3 utility in Bios tools menu.
Obtain the Bios file from ASUS support and download to an empty Fat32 formatted USB stick then rename the file to RSB350FG.CAP.
With the USB inserted in the appropriate port you can then follow the instructions in section 3.11.2 of the MB Manual.
