Stock or copper. Which should I use

I bought a 2600/333 AMD Retail, I'm currently using the supplied HS with the chip and it runs fine. But I do have a PURE copper HS on my old board that I used for my 1800 PAl. I don't know its exact model but it should be a global win or similar quality.

Should I stick with the retail (which has no copper) or use my other HS. I may tinker with pushing the FSB up a little. but nothing extreme.

Stay with the stock one until you decide to overclock. Do you know the specifications of the copper one? see what speed of cpu its rated for.

Unfortunatly this is older info and the heatsinks true abilities are unknown.

If anyone knows what this can actually handle, please let me know.

Didnt AMD declare that for the higher speed AXP's that they needed a copper surface to contact the cpu, then the rest of the hsf can be aluminium.

then again, all of my stock fans have been all aluminum, but they are 1&2 years old.

I have a CAK2 38 on my 1.2 Athlon overclocked to 1.3.The stock fan was pretty good..If I remember right,this model is good up to 2.2..But the stock fan was not really good enough for my needs.So i dumped the fan and put a Delta 60x60x38 double ballbearing screamer on it..After a hour of intence Quake Arena game play,The heatsink is cold to the touch from the semi warm to the touch before.The heatsink and the Delta fan setup,are a good pair.A little loud,but Extremly efficiant.
