Stock S939 Heatsink on a S7/462 CPU?

I have not used the stock heatsink that came with my S939 4200+ X2 cpu a couple of years ago. Can it be altered to fit on a Socket 7/462 motherboard?

I am concerned about an ancient Athlon XP 1700+ that I have overclocked to about 1.9GHz that has been getting to 65c lately, and I want to cool that cpu down with spending any money on an old platform.

Change the thermal paste on your 1700+ and clean the dust off. It should help a lot.
