i bought a used computer online recently, it turned out to be a stolen school laptop or so. i have tried to reset it by using 'launch Startup Repair (recommended)' method, where you change the name of Utilman.exe or Sethc.exe and you use that to rename command prompt (cmd) and changing password etc.

but the problem is that i am not able to find neither 'Utilman.exe' or 'Sethc.exe'. it looks like that has been blocked from access by students.

i have also tried reinstalling windows through a USB drive, but the computer does not seem to recognise my USB drive.

please help if you are able to give any information on getting around this problem.

(yes i have tried to return the laptop #NoLuck)

If you know the laptop was stolen, report the seller to the police and try and get your money back that way. Tom's Hardware has a strict, "No Bypassing Security Protocols" policy which prohibits us from assisting you any further.
