Hey,

I am currently rocking a GTX 970 with a Ryzen 3700X CPU, and want to wait for the newer cards expected this year for a "real" GPU upgrade. I have a 1440p high refresh rate monitor, which is giving my GPU problems.

However, my 970 is a little slow on certain games, and I'd like to buy a stopgap card in the meantime.

I found a used GTX 1070 for ~180-200eur, does that sound like it would work for my purposes? Are there any other cards I should consider?

Thanks a bunch!

I have a GTX 1070 and it handles pretty much anything I throw at it - it's a good bit faster than the 970 (roughly 980ti performance) so it's a decent upgrade.

An RX 5700 would Definetly do the job for you and you would not need an upgrade for a pretty long time

https://www.amazon.com/XFX-1750MHz-...sr_1_2?keywords=rx+5700&qid=1579017755&sr=8-2

https://www.newegg.com/xfx-radeon-r...=rx 5700&cm_re=rx_5700-_-14-150-828-_-Product

it is set at 330 but worth every penny

That's a great card, the price is maybe a bit on the high side, but it should be fine.

Other options are: 1660ti, rx 5700, rx vega 56/64. All should be around 200 euro (used), the amd cards are a bit stronger than the 1070.

Other good options in that performance range are the AMD Vega cards (Vega 56 generally outperforms the 1070 these days since the drivers got optimised), the only drawback to Vega cards are they are a bit power hungry.

If you are looking for new card to move to the GTX 1660 Super is similar performance to the 1070 but can be quite a bit faster in some more modern titles that can make use of the new features.
