[SOLVED] Storage and backup expansion help needed

I’d like some recommendations on what’s the best options for expanding my storage and backup abilities.
My system is
OS : Win 7
Case : Full Cooler Master
Motherboard: Asus p6x58d
CPU : i7 938 2.8 ghz
CPU cooling: i7 990x extreme cpu cooler
Memory: ddr3-1333 4 GB x6= 24GB
GPU : Asus strix GTX 970
PSU : Antec 750w
Avermedia CE310B pcie capture card
2 hot swap decks
1 LG blue ray rewrite drive
1 Samsung blue ray player
1 multi recording drive
NZXT sentry mix 2 fan controller

My storage is generally photos / videos,
and a ton of mapping data.

The updates I’m needing :
6-8 more SATA ports for storage drives via PCIe card
Also a Usb3 card if room allows

My current storage drives:
Samsung EVO 850 250GB SSD
Patriot Inferno 120GB SSD
2 Seagate 1TB 7200 HHD
1 Samsung 2TB HHD
& I’ll be adding another large HHD

I have 3 open slots:
1 PCIeX16 express
1 PCI 16
1 PC 12
What’s the best SATA cards to buy/ install?
And best backup options?

For the backup....anything external to this system.
USB, NAS, cloud, whatever...or all of the above.

What is your backup situation at home? And if you don't do that, why not? Every single day, I read multiple threads here of "How do I get my stuff back?" or "That drive had 5 years of photos of my kids!!" Be it a dead drive, dropped phone, virus, accidental deletion, formatting the wrong...

For what? There are multiple external enclosures with 4-8 drive bays, as well as a NAS.


For internal drives, you just want larger drivs, rather than add a PCIe-SATA device to connect more internally.
Replace your 1 and 2TB drives with larger, and move those to an external thing for backup space.

Eventually I’ll migrate my storage drives into an external NAS with larger drives, but I don’t have the money currently. I also have 3 HHD external storage drives.
That said I’m looking for inexpensive ways to connect everything internally for now.

My backup is currently via hard drives & DVD’s,
because I don’t often utilize most of the stored data. And when I do access speeds not needed.
