OK, so here is the problem: My computer will freeze while preforming tasks on chrome or in windows programs (Word, exel, file manager, etc) The mouse is still usable, but when you try to open task manager or open a new window or even shut down there is no response. I have to shut it down manually and then it goes back to normal.

Here is what I recently did: Keep in mind these issues started minutes after I did this. I bought a mx300 750Gb ssd to upgrade my old hard drive that I put in my build about 2 or 3 years ago. I plugged everything I needed into the ssd and booted up. Opened Acronis and started to clone everything from the old drive to the new. I rebooted and set the ssd as the boot drive and took the hdd out, this is when I started getting the problem.

Pc specs:
Processor: i5 4690k @4Ghz
Graphics Card: GTX 970 Windforce 3x edition
Motherboard: MSI Z97s SLI Karait edition
RAM: 8Gb 1600Mhz Crucial
CPU Fan: Hyper 212 Evo
PSU: Thermaltake SMART 650w Power Supply
SSD: CRUCIAL MX300 750Gb

Hey there, Natecwolf.

So, currently it sounds like everything's pointing towards the new drive, especially it you're having issues with the old HDD disconnected from the mobo. Go ahead and try the drive with a different SATA port and different cables, to see if the same thing happens. You should also check the SSD manufacturer's website for an available firmware update for that drive model.
Even though this is a new drive, you should download an SSD diagnostic tool and test it for errors, just to make sure that there's nothing alarming going on with the drive.
You could also try the cloning process from scratch, in case something messed up, to see if the issue still persist.

Please let me know how everything goes.

Thanks for replying!
I have done what you suggested and updated the firmware, still not sure if the issue is persisting, but here is what I got from the diagnostic tool: http://prntscr.com/ddgqh2

Update: Still doing it, but the problem seems to be when I am watching a video it will trigger the freeze. Also when I have my computer locked and not doing anything it will freeze and I need to shut it down again.
One thing to note is that when my pc freezes and I restart it one desktop icon (I changed its position before the crash) gets reset to its original position.

It would appear from your posts detailing the problem that the difficulties you enumerate are with the newly-cloned Crucial SSD? Is that right?
Can we assume that if you reinstall your "old" HDD source drive and boot to that disk the system performs without any problems?
If the latter is the case it certainly points to a disk-cloning operation with your Acronis program that went awry, does it not?

All the links said was: hardrive health is excellent. And I havent noticed anything going wrong in the monitoring
