I'm new to laptops and I'm looking at purchasing one with gaming as it's primary function.
I'm offered the choice between these two options with no difference in price.

Can someone help this old man out and tell me which one you'd choose. TIA

Which one would you pick?
1 TB PCIe® NVMe™ M.2 SSD
vs
1 TB Intel® SSD + 32 GB Intel® Optane™ memory

The straight SSD. Don't make more complicated for a small (if any) performance gain.

The first one, make it simple.
And, Optane on top of an SSD grants no performance increase at all.
