Just built a new new system with a 960 Evo SSD. Windows 10 on it. My old PC just had one 1 tb HDD installed on it, I would like to use it as storage on the new one. Here is my noob question: since it has Windows installed on it too, can / should I just un install Windows from it since I no longer need it there or will it create problems / or errors accessing all the data/ programs I have on it? Since they were all installed on that Windows environment. Thx...sorry if this is a stupid question.

Your programs will not be accessible on the new drive. They will need to be re-installed. Programs do more than copy their files to the program files\"your app name" folder. They make changes to the registry.

For simplicity I suggest you backup the data (photos, word files, saved games) and then format your old drive. But this is not required.

You can just attach the HD to your new PC (while it is off of course) and use it as a 2nd HD.

so..if I understand you correctly, I would not be able to access anything on the ( older) 1 tb storage hdd? Maybe I should just keep that drive on my other pc and get a new storage drive to go with the ssd on the new system.
I was going to try and sell my older one...hence why I wanted to keep that drive. Hmm..decisions

You will be able to access DATA but not PROGRAMS if you move your old drive. I wouldn't bother to move it. Newer, faster, larger drives are so cheap these days.
