[SOLVED] Storage Recommendations

Hello everyone,

I am looking for some storage recommendations because I am running out of space on all of my hard drives. I have too many pictures, videos, games, movies, etc. I initially thought of buying something from Seagate or Western Digital but I have heard of a lot of users complaining about failures.

I am planning to purchase the 10TB version of one of these:

Has anyone else tried it? The reviews say that it is pretty reliable.

That has 2x Seagate drives in it.

What is the reliability and life of that Seagate drive? I also noticed that you recommended the desktop style. Is that preferable to the portable style?

About the same as every other consumer grade drive.

Common fallacy among hard drives:
"OMG! Brand X suck!"
"Whatthehell....Brand Y died on mt last week!"

All these comments come from a sample size of ONE.
A fleetwide reliability of Brand X being a couple percentage points above Brand Y means little for the single drive you have on your desk.

The best way to take a drive fail into account is with a comprehensive backup routine.
Drives die. ALL of them, eventually.
Protect your data with backups...the physical drive is trivial.

That external I linked needs no extra cables or anything.
Or, you can remove the drive inside and connect it internally in your desktop.

OK, currently 12+TB.
I was asking just to verify that you didn't have a collection of old small drives in there.

If you're currently running out of drive space..a couple of externals like the one I linked will work.
