What's the downside of using exFAT external HDD to store video games? Can exFAT even store video game files?

I found cheap HDDs on ebay but they're in exFAT format. the prices look too good to be true, but as long as they can store video game files, I'm fine with that.

The only practical downside I can think of is exFAT (and the FAT family) is more sensitive to sudden disconnects with the storage drive. Other file systems have ways to mitigate this. Otherwise practical performance and whatnot are virtually identical.

The sellers warn against adjusting it to NTFS, so i'm guessing the rigidity of the format is the reason for the low price.
Storage drives do not care which file system they use. Will concur with the others that this is a red flag on the seller. Either they don't know what they're talking about or they're trying to scam you.

Brand New, 1TB, $26.99 = 100% scam

Brand new, 2TB (or 8TB), $29.99 = 100% scam

We see these here ALL the time.
Absolute scam.
