strange bar during load up?

I've noticed that when I first click "Play" to start the game, there is
a weird little bar of various colors in the lower right of my screen,
and then it goes away once the intro screens/movies start playing. I'm
not sure when this started, maybe after I installed the expansions. Does
anyone else have this kind of thing?

The only thing which comes in mind just now is a Microsoft multimedia
keyboard with controls for the sound card. Do you use such a device?
Another reason might be a background process or a service like virus
scanners or firewalls. A closer look at the task manager will probably
tell you more.

I'm using a notebook, so no keyboard, but I know it didn't do it before,
on this same computer. As far as I know, the same stuff is running or
not running, including Norton, but I always disable it before I start NWN.

to you in yellow boxes?
