First of all, sorry about the long post- please read it all.

So to start with, I was getting these strange occurrences where when I put my PC to sleep, it would not wake up by any of the usual means, eg. moving/clicking the mouse, pressing keys on the keyboard. The only way to turn it on would be to hard reset it. (holding down the power button, in my case.) So I held down the button, and sure enough, my fans stopped spinning for a brief moment then started again. I got my motherboard splash screen, and then nothing. Just a black screen for about a minute, until eventually i managed to get into windows. Odd. First thing I notice is a popup from Steam saying my credentials had changes. I typed in my usual username and password, and everything was fine. so then I go into chrome- some sort of error where my bookmarks have all disappeared, along with my all of my preferences and extensions. By this point I am convinced it is my hard drive failing so I go to my 'search windows' bar, and nothing comes up when I type in 'PC' to try and find the backup page. It says something was turned off, but gives me no option to turn anything back on. I then get multiple errors saying an app malfunctioned and some defaults had been reset. I then grab my portable HDD, ready to backup everything- I also have no Idea which drive, if any, has malfunctioned. I open task manager, and I get the worst error of them all: your drive has malfunctioned and needs to restart to be repaired.Obviously, I restart my PC and it proceeds to repair every drive that is plugged in, including my USB. I go into windows, and some more errors about default apps. And that's it so far. What is going on?

PS: I typed into cmd.exe the following:

wmic

diskdrive get status

which returned the following:

OK
OK
OK

try running Data life guard on both hard drives: http://support.wdc.com/downloads.aspx?lang=en

not waking from sleep can be caused by old bios, power settings or outdated drivers. All can combine and ruin your day.

Black screen at start up can be pc is looking for hardware that is slow to react or old drivers not answering correctly

Did you update BIOS then or never as it may have one from last year still.
what are specs of the pc?

and do you have a win 10 installer USB or DVD? If you want one, grab this file and make one

windows 10 media creation tool

Is this an upgrade or a fresh install?

it sounds like you should just backup anything you can and do a fresh install.

If you don't like that idea, download Driver Booster and see what drivers need replacing as they normally the cause of most problems.

when was last time you updated Bios?

My specs: FX-6300 @4.2ghz
Msi 970a-g43
16gb corsair vengeance pro 2400 ddr3
radeon r7 360
corsair vs450
Both my drives are WD black, if it matters.

I installed win10 off a usb installer that I made with on my macbook, as I didn't have a windows computer in my house before I built my current one. Have you got any ideas about the not waking up from sleep mode and the black screen? I haven't updated my bios since I installed my new motherboard ~3 months ago.
