[SOLVED] strange glitch where alphanumeric keys occasionally don't work while in game upon opening

I have this strange glitch occasionally when launching a game, I discover that the letter and number keys do not work on the keyboard. It's always these same keys. The space bar and side buttons always work. However, when holding down the control button all keys work but as soon as I let go they stop working. Outside of the games I never have this problem. If I minimize the game the keys will work just fine in any other program.

Before suggesting the obvious, unplugging or even changing keyboards has not solved the problem. The only way to fix this is to inconveniently close the game and restart it. I've searched all over for an explanation and can't find one.

I would run the windows keyboard troubleshooter and see what it suggests if anything
