strange goings on

Archived from groups: alt.games.the-sims-2 (More info?)

I saved my game while I was doing normal stuff, and noticed that the
buy/build modes are greyed out, like when there's a fire or when you get
burgled. The social worker appeared for no reason and I asked her to leave.
But the modes are still not accessible.
When I get back to my game will all be ok? Why did this happen? Help!

When the social worker is around you cannot do anything, Because when
she comes to drop of a kid it does the same thing. If she is still there
you need to kill her (build a wall round her) or use move objects on
tool and try and delete her
