hi
I have asus R542bp (X542bp) laptop.(APU = AMD A6-9220)
When the graphics driver is installed with version 17.7, the graphics card with the name R5 m420 appears in device manager.
But when I install the latest version of the graphics driver compatible with this APU (22.6.1),its name changes to HD 8500m!
Why does this happen?
In both drivers, there is no option to switch the graphics card.
How can I switch to R5 m420 (or hd 8500hd)?is it possible?

my laptop spec:
AMD A6-9220 RADEON R4, 5 COMPUTE CORES 2C
64-bit operating system, x64-based processor
Windows 10 Pro 22H2 -- 19045.2604

8550M could come up as it is a GCN 1st gen product with very similar hardware.

R5-M420 is also a GCN 1st gen product, with slightly less core count, but slightly higher clock speeds.

They are almost the same performance wise, and the driver would be pretty much identical.

Both quite low-end hardware, so I don't think it matters too much what it says. The R5-M420 is 3 years newer in terms of release, but is basically identical to the older HD8000 mobile series.

Is there a way to switch R5 m420?

and i found somethings in Dxdiag👇👇👇

in render section ==> device type: render-only display device.....
What does this mean? means R5 m420 only for rendering which helps cpu and R4 graphic to be faster?

There doesn't need to be an option.

dxdiag is basically Microsoft asking the driver what is there, it is hardly accurate.

If you want more details download GPU-Z. Though that is just going to read the BIOS on the GPU.
