Hi everyone.
Newbie here.
We sell Naim Audio (www.naimaudio.com) networked audio systems that use uPNP and this morning a customer brought in their unit (a Naim Audio Unitilite) for a check over.
When I plugged it into our PoE switch to connect it to our network, our Naim Audio ND5 streamer - which is connected to our main switch) simply disappeared.
Here's the network config:
ISP modem/router (functioning only as a gateway)
into
Linksys EA6900 router (router and WAP)
into
HPE 1420 series 24 port switch (wired connections to POS computer, 3 x Synology NAS and a variety of Cat5e ports around the shop)
the HPE is also outputting to an Edimax 1008 PoE switch which connects to a Linksys WAP (we need it for the PoE function)
So this morning, because my HPE switch is full, I plug the customer's Naim Unitilite stereo into the Edimax, thinking 'no worries, it's getting a signal to the WAP, so why not to the Naim Lite?'.
Except it didn't work. The Lite didn't detect a network connection.
'Ok whatever' I'm thinking. So disconnect a NAS that's not critical, and plug the Unililite into the HPE switch. Naim Audio Unitilite instantly appears. All good, to be expected.
But here's the kicker!
Doing that kicked the Naim Audio ND5 (a networked music streamer) OFF THE NETWORK.
It's hard wired too. I never even touched it.
Now the Naim Audio ND5 streamer is registering 'no network'!
Naim have an app that allows you to control the devices (called 'rooms' by the app) and the ND5 isn't there.
What is going on??
