I recently aquired a Visiontek radeon 5670 for my home server. I needed a decent, but not overpowered graphics card for video. Unfortunately, the card did not fit as the server only had a 1x pcie slot. I decided to cut the card to fit the server, and it worked beautifully . Out of a random impulse, i decided to put the card in my desktop and see what kind of performance i could get out of it. My regular desktop setup is a Dell Precision T3500 with a Xeon w3565 cpu and a gtx 560 ti graphics card. Impatient, i decided to just use minecraft, and see what kind of frame rates i would get. My regular setup on max settings would get around 30+ fps. The odd thing is that the weaker, 5670 running pcie 1x, gets a constant 90+ fps. I expected very different results. Is there something wrong with my 560? Shouldn't my 560 ti get frame rates much higher than this? None of the cards are overclocked.
