Strange Ram speed

I just built a new system and I bought 4 sticks of 8gb, DDR3, 1600mhz ram. This is listed as a supported size and speed by my mobo, however when I put everything together and ran bios for the first time the ram freq. reads as 1333mhz. All of the sticks are labled with a manufacturer sticker as 1600mhz. Does this have anything to do with my mobo. or just some strange fluke with the ram?

That's the default speed, enabling XMP in BIOS should get you your sticker speed/timings

Thank you. I had just built my pc when I posted this, and didn't know much about little nuances like this. This was a great help.
