Strange sound and lock-ups

Recently, my PC, especially when running games like BF2, Oblvion and other applications, I hear that TOCK! sound you can hear at the last second when you shut down your PC. I hear the sound every few seconds, and it eventually locks up the system. What do you all think this could be?

Well My old Quantum Fireball HDD Gives a TOCK Sound when I shutdown the computer, waking up the comp. May b ur HDD as well.( some HDD’s gives that tock sound) can u standby ur comp and wake it up again to make sure ? If it lockups try from another HDD .. :roll:
