Streaming 4K from my PC to TV?

Hey all,

I'm looking to stream 4K Video files to my 4K TV over LAN, however I just can't seem to manage it and can't find anything online as to why. I have a 4K monitor on my PC with a GTX 1080 Founders, and my TV is a 4K Samsung 6 Series smart TV, which manages 4K streaming from Netflix and the like.

I can stream 1080 and lower from my PC using cast to device and the built in software on my TV, but 4K files are just glitchy and tend to crash all together.

Any ideas?

Are both your TV and PC connected via a WIRED connection? What bitrate are you trying to stream? What CPU do you have ? Streaming will be less about your graphics card and more about your CPU and network.

Netflix 4K have been compressed for streaming. If your video is uncompressed that could be issue.

I agree with kanewolf. Look at the bitrate that you are trying to stream and see what limitations are associated with your LAN.

Both are over wifi on a 5ghz connection. The video file isn't compressed I think, it's a 5Gb video so not sure.

CPU is i7 quad core hyperthreaded at 2.3ghz but don't know the model.

Try putting the PC on a wired connection. This will cut the required bandwidth in WIFI in half. I am betting it is just too much for WIFI. Streaming on dual WIFI, especially at 4K is usually not successful.
